#HOConZCafe: Is India Ready for Homecoming of Terror?

Frank Underwood is coming to India with the television premiere of House Of Cards Season 5 on Saturday, 3rd June, 5 PM onwards, only on Zee Café! And India needs to be ready to the political roller coaster manned by the husband-and-wife powerhouse, Frank Underwood (Kevin Spacey)  and Claire Underwood (Robin Wright). The Episode 1 of Season 5 of HOC is a display of the extent the power couple will do to continue their reign as the first couple of the United States of America. A combination of terrorism, media attention grabbing, and Congress session disruption make this episode a perfect opening for the season. It is also an era of the House of Cards where there is a real-life president to which President Frank Underwood can be compared to, which is definitely something that will make the fans go deep into their thoughts.

Spoiler Alert!! Spoiler Alert

The House of Cards Season 5 Episode 1 shows Claire filming an info ad against terrorism, President Frank disrupting the Congress session to demand that the Congress declare war on ICO – the ISIS-like terrorist group on HOC, the funeral of Jim Miller – who was killed by the terrorists in a live video in Season 4 – where Melissa Miller claimed that Frank is the reason why her father is dead, and the death of Josh Masterson – a wanted terrorist, which is an intriguing part of the episode.

This episode shows how Frank and Claire use public fear and terrorism to gain support and continue their rule. Just like in the real life situation today, the issue of terrorism and fear on it played a big part in the election. Candidates who support rigid rules on immigration to prevent passage of international terrorist gain the votes of the people. However, unlike in HOC, the press is not an avid supporter of the real-life president. Claire and Frank still have the press’s support although of course there are these eager journalists, like Tom Hammerschmidt, who always knows that Frank and Claire are not as good as they portray in public.

The scene that I like the most in this episode is where Frank and Claire peered at the crowd through the rifle scope before greeting them and telling them that they are safe. It is an irony and a lie – the use of the rifle scope to spy on the people and the declaration of safety – maybe safety for Frank and Claire, not the people of the country.

There are certainly more terrors coming in this season of House of Cards, but what I don’t know is who will be the bestower and the recipient of these terrors. Only one way to find out, watch #HOConZCafe!
